A Dramatherapy group for teenagers will be starting on the 1st of February 2018, in Primary Care Psychotherapy Centre Naas.
Facilitated by Anna Shinnors MA Dramatherapy NUIM (Biography below).
During the teen years it can be difficult to talk about emotions, especially with parents and authority figures. Creative arts therapy can be a useful way to work with a changing sense of self. Dramatherapy can be a valuable boost to traditional counselling. This group is for teenagers from 15 to 17 years of age and will run every Thursday evening from 7 – 8pm for 8 consecutive weeks until the 22nd of March.
The cost to attend this group is €15 per client per session.
“Creative Art Therapies, such as Dramatherapy, are a unique way to deal with problems, express yourself, set goals, and gain confidence.”
“Amongst the Creative Arts Therapies, Dramatherapy offers the best forum for teens to try on new roles, learn new ways of relating, and express how they feel.”
Dramatherapy takes a unique approach to helping teens by using drama and/or theatre techniques, including improvisation, role-playing and acting out stories.
Dramatherapy has a whole host of benefits, including:
*Encouraging you to learn how to solve your problems
*Giving you an opportunity to express how you are feeling
*Learning how to set goals for yourself
*Helping you improve how you relate to other people
*Understanding yourself and your experiences more clearly
*Taking these skills with you into your roles at home, school, and/or work, to improve the way you cope with life
*Using creativity, imagination, and play, to practice reacting to difficult situations
*Getting to the point of addressing problems quickly
*A way to escape from the pressures of life into the imagination for a little while
*Interacting with others in a safe, confidential environment
