Amanda is a professionally qualified counsellor psychotherapist holding a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Having a commitment to continued professional development, she has a Certificate in Gestalt Therapy and is currently undertaking training in issues of sexual violence with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. She is a fully accredited member of IACP and adheres to their professional standards and code of ethics in her practice.
Amanda’s training is humanistic and integrative incorporating person centred, psychodynamic, CBT and Gestalt therapies. Her approach is adapted to that which is most appropriate and beneficial for the client. Central to Amanda’s way of working is to create a safe, confidential and compassionate space where clients can begin a process of exploring aspects of their lives which are of concern to them.
Amanda has many years’ experience working with people in the area of mental health and wellbeing, including over four years working as a counsellor psychotherapist in Pieta House supporting people struggling with suicidal thoughts and engaging in deliberate self-harm. She is experienced in working with clients presenting with issues such as Depression, Stress and Anxiety, Loss and Grief, Relationship Issues, Low Self Esteem, Spirituality, Suicide and Deliberate Self Harm. She works empathically and collaboratively with adult individuals on a one to one basis.
