Developmental Trauma

Due to the last 10 years of research in Neuroscience we now know that early child abuse/trauma/neglect can cause damage to our brain and therefore our emotional way of being relational in the world. Childhood Trauma can also leave us as adults more vulnerable to suicide, depression, personality disorders, addiction and anxiety. In Primary Care Psychotherapy we have experienced Trauma Therapists who embrace neuroplasticity and can help clients build a bridge between left and right brain functioning so that they can complete the fight/flight cycle of trauma in the here and now in a more resourceful way. This leads to self-regulation and integration of the mind and body and breaks the repetition compulsion of dysfunctional childhood patterns.
